How It Works

We support ranchers at every stage of the transition, verification and credit sale process.

  • Join the Program

Sign up and get started. If you’re new to rotational grazing, we’ll guide you with expert knowledge and best practices every step of the way.

*Please note we have now enrolled our first cohort of ranchers and are targeting our next cohort for January 2026.

  • Test Your Soil

Our partner EarthOptics, will handle the soil sampling. They’ll collect and analyze soil samples to measure how much carbon is currently stored in your land.

  • Certification

We take care of the paperwork. Your soil data is submitted to BCarbon, an independent registry that reviews and certifies your land’s carbon storage potential.

  • Annually Earn Provisional Credits

Based on your annual soil test results and estimated carbon capture potential, BCarbon issues provisional carbon credits each year. These credits are sold and monetized by CMC, offering ongoing revenue opportunities.

Twenty percent of your credits are held in reserve as insurance, while the remainder are available for sale.

  • Recheck and Verify

Every five years, your land will undergo a more detailed round of soil testing to measure the actual carbon gains achieved through rotational grazing. A third-party auditor reviews the results to ensure accuracy, transparency, and accountability.

  • Final Carbon Credits

Based on this five-year review, BCarbon conducts a final accounting to determine if the provisional credits issued over time accurately reflect your verified carbon storage. If adjustments are needed, they are made using the credits held in reserve.
